Games like Mafia Wars: a free online mafia game
If you are looking for games like Mafia Wars, the Facebook mafia game, NORDKRIM is a free online mafia game for browser, mobile and PC. You commit crimes, climb the ranks, run businesses and join a gang, in one shared world with other players.
What happened to Mafia Wars?
Mafia Wars was a Zynga game that began on Facebook. Zynga announced in 2016 that it would close the original game, and it ended a mobile relaunch in 2017. NORDKRIM is a different game, made by a different company: Studio H3D in Norway. It has no connection to Zynga or to Mafia Wars, and you do not need a Facebook account to play it.
What you can do in NORDKRIM
- Take on jobs. Commit crimes from pickpocketing to bank robbery for kroner and respect, with a signature job in every city.
- Climb the ranks. There are 15 ranks, from civilian to Capo Don, and every rank unlocks something new.
- Build a gang. Join or found a gang with a shared treasury, and fight other gangs for control of eight Nordic cities.
- Pull heists with a crew. Plan one of nine heists with a driver, security, a safecracker and a hacker.
- Run businesses. Own a laundromat, a bar or a nightclub, hire other players and collect the income while you do other things.
- Fight other players. Train strength, defense and reflex, pick your weapon and protection, and take on rivals in Streetfight and Battle Royale.
Everything else is in the list of features, from the stock market and car theft to smuggling by boat and plane.
Your first day
The first time you log in, a guided tour follows you from page to page and walks you through a crime, a training session and a car theft. You start with 500,000 kr, check in once a day for a reward that grows each day in a row, and the missions give you something to do every day. The how-to-play guide covers the first day step by step.
Play without Facebook
NORDKRIM runs in your browser, on mobile and on PC, with nothing to download. You sign up with Google, Apple or an email address, and you pick your nickname once you are inside. It is free to play: Gold, the premium currency, mostly buys time, style and status, and almost all equipment is bought with kroner at any rank. Wondering whether it is pay-to-win? The FAQ has the answer.
How NORDKRIM is different
- A Nordic setting. The world is eight Nordic cities, each with its own signature crime and an airport you can fly from. See the cities.
- Seasons. NORDKRIM is played in seasons. Season 2 began on September 18, 2026, and everyone started again with 500,000 kr.
- One shared world. The game keeps running around the clock, and every player shares the same cities, businesses and rankings, whatever language they use.
Before you start
NORDKRIM began as a Norwegian-language game, and the English version is new. The website, sign-up, log-in, menus and main buttons are in English, and more of the game is being translated. Some game screens and server messages are still in Norwegian for now, so expect some Norwegian in the chat and in announcements. The minimum age is 15, and all crime in the game is make-believe. The FAQ answers 98 questions in English.
Not affiliated
Mafia Wars and Zynga are the names of another game and another company, and belong to their owners. NORDKRIM is an independent game from Studio H3D and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to them. This page describes NORDKRIM only; for the other game, see Zynga’s own announcements.
