What is NORDKRIM?

You start as a civilian with 500,000 kr and work your way up through crime, training, fights and contracts. The goal is simple: become a legend of the Nordics. Every action counts, and every rival can become your next target, or you theirs.

The loop is easy to learn: commit crimes to earn kroner and respect, train your combat stats at the gym, climb the 15 ranks and use adrenaline and energy that refill over time. Team up with others in a gang and fight for territory.

“Mafia” is also the name of a party game with roles and cards, and of a series of console games. NORDKRIM is something else: a mafia game you play in your browser, on mobile and on PC, in one shared world that keeps running around the clock. You meet the other players through menus, text and chat. If you are looking for a text-based or browser-based mafia game, a free online crime game or a gangster game in the spirit of the old browser classics, this is what NORDKRIM is.

The game takes place in eight cities: Oslo (Gardermoen airport), Bergen (Flesland airport), Stockholm (Arlanda airport), Gothenburg (Landvetter airport), Copenhagen (Kastrup airport), Helsinki (Vantaa airport), Reykjavík (Keflavík airport) and Ålesund (Vigra airport). They are all in one world, so players share the same cities, businesses and rankings, whatever language they use.

NORDKRIM is played in seasons. Season 2 began on 18 September 2026, and everyone started again with 500,000 kr; new players start with the same.

NORDKRIM is free to play. The premium currency Gold mostly buys time, style and status, and almost all equipment is bought with kroner at any rank. The only Gold-exclusive item is a single top weapon. Gold can also be bought from other players with kroner, so free players can earn it too.

You build your character at your own pace. It is never deleted by itself, and you cannot lose it by playing badly. The one permanent way out is the kill feature, Drep, which is paused from 18 October 2026 while the game grows. New players are protected from kills for their first 14 days.

NORDKRIM began as a Norwegian-language game, and the English version is new. The website, sign-up, log-in, menus and main buttons are available in English, and more of the game is being translated. Some game screens and server messages are still in Norwegian. The Norwegian site is at nordkrim.no.
