Everything in NORDKRIM
NORDKRIM is a free mafia game you play in your browser. This is the whole underworld, one part at a time.
Crimes, ranks and your criminal career
Crimes are what you do most. There are 17 of them, from pickpocketing and car break-ins to jewellery robberies and armed bank robbery, and each of the eight cities has its own signature job. They pay kroner and respect, and respect takes you up 15 ranks, from civilian to Capo Don. Every rank unlocks something new. When a job goes wrong you end up in prison for a while, and on the heaviest jobs an arrest can turn into a shootout.
Your criminal career is yours to shape: choose a specialisation with real advantages and real drawbacks, climb its levels and unlock a skill tree. Once you have mastered a crime you can prestige it for extra payout and success.
Training and fighting
Train strength, defence and reflex at the gym and precision at the shooting range. Adrenaline and energy refill by themselves over time. You can attack other players on their profile in a fight over several rounds, decided by your combat stats, protection and weapon. Streetfight is a pure street duel with no luck involved: strength, defence and reflex decide it. Battle Royale is a tournament that runs on a clock: a new round starts every 30 minutes.
The Hitlist and extortion
The Hitlist is the bounty board. Every day you get your own contracts on people from the underworld, with targets and rewards that follow your rank. From rank Langer you can also put a bounty on another player, or collect one. A contract is never anonymous: the target is told who put it out, and a failed attempt can land you in hospital.
Extortion lets you press a player for money. The odds are mostly a coin toss, with your rank tilting them only slightly, so new players have a real chance too.
Gangs, territories and war
Join a gang or found your own, with the roles Don, Underboss, Capo and Soldat, a shared treasury, a gang chat and a vote to remove members. Gangs fight for control of eight cities. An unowned city can be taken for a large sum from the treasury, while a city held by another gang has to be besieged: a battle both gangs can join, with an attack time you choose between 2 and 24 hours ahead. Holding a city brings income to the treasury and room for an extra business, but each city costs upkeep every day, and the cost multiplies with every city you hold.
Organised crime: heists with a crew
Big heists need a crew. Every job has four roles: driver, security, safecracker and hacker. Anyone of rank Torpedo or higher can start one, and anyone can take an open role or be invited. Nine heists are in the game, from Bankjobb to the Central Bank (rank Boss), and every crew member buys their own gear: the chance of success depends on the equipment of the whole crew.
Businesses, plantation and passive income
A business is a large, shared enterprise, and only a limited number of each type exists in the whole game. There are 22 kinds, from laundromats, bars, nightclubs and pawn shops to taxi companies, gyms, car workshops and money-laundering fronts, plus businesses that exist in only one city. Buying one is expensive and needs rank Soldat, but you can invite other players as employees. A business earns income only while it has goods in stock, so you restock it to keep the wheels turning. A single ammunition factory exists in the whole game, and its owner produces the supply of bullets that the other players buy.
The plantation is a business of its own: grow, harvest and sell three varieties, and build it up from a backyard to a professional operation, if you survive the raids.
The stock market
The stock market lets you invest kroner in fictional Nordic companies. Prices move in unpredictable trends through the day, and news such as a police raid, a takeover rumour or a big contract can move a price by a few percent. You can buy, sell and short, and set price alerts. Prices are tied to the game: players’ own businesses move their sector. It is a game of chance and no profit is guaranteed.
Car theft, garage and street racing
You steal cars by choosing a method and a place, not a model, and the car you get is a random yield: a safe method mostly gives a cheap car, a daring one rarely pays off but can land you a supercar. In the garage you sell, repair and ship cars, or tune them with eight parts, from engine and turbo to nitro and sound system. Then put the car to use in street racing, a head-to-head race for money.
Smuggling, boats and airports
Logistics is the control room for everything that moves in the shadows. You keep a warehouse in each city, buy goods on the street where they are cheap, ship them and sell where they are expensive. In the marina you buy a boat and run smuggling trips, with the Coast Guard, Customs and the police trying to stop you. Under Airport you fly between eight cities (Oslo, Bergen, Stockholm, Gothenburg, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Reykjavík and Ålesund), and you can buy the concession to an airport and earn a share of every ticket.
Property, bunker and safety
Work your way up a property ladder from a simple bedsit to the Kingdom, worth almost a billion. Every property has a bunker you can build after getting a permit. Inside it nobody can attack, extort or trace you, though you cannot act yourself either. Holiday mode, bought with Gold, makes you unreachable for a period.
Casino, poker and lotto
The casino has blackjack, Russian roulette and dice, and poker is played against other players, where the house only takes a fee. Lotto has several draws with their own jackpots, plus scratch cards. Everything runs on the server, so nobody can cheat. It all uses only the in-game currency: there is no payout in real money, and the house always has an edge, so play for fun.
The press and political contacts
In the press you found your own newspaper, write and publish issues at a price you set, hire an editorial team and sell subscriptions. Each city has room for one paper, so the city is your market. The game also has its own paper, Undergrunnen, out on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 07:00 Norwegian time. From rank Håndhever you can bribe a network of officials: the police chief looks the other way, and the benefits last as long as the envelope keeps coming.
Events, missions and daily rewards
Events are time-limited happenings with in-game prizes (kroner, Gold, respect and badges), such as Double Weekend, the Car Theft Hunt or the Smuggling Route. Missions give you something to do every day: the daily ladder is five tasks in a fixed order, monthly missions work on a larger scale, milestones follow your whole career, and the mission ladder gives you one mission at a time, with goals that grow with your rank. Check in once a day for a reward that grows each day in a row.
Chat, forum and Discord
Inside the game there is one shared chat for the whole of the Nordics, a chat for your own gang and private messages. You can reply to a message, react with an emoji and attach a picture. The forum has General, Trade and Off-topic categories plus a private gang forum. Racist and ethnic slurs, words that mock disability and other hate speech are stopped before a message is sent. Join the community on Discord.
